Let’s face it, the reason most people love the crockpot is that they can set it and forget it. I personally hate it cause it doesn’t ever get as hot as I need it to. So here’s my tip for the set it and forget it ladies and men out there. I usually start my stew/soup on the stovetop, so I can bring it to a boil and get everything really going. Then I preheat my oven to 500 and clean up the kitchen. By the time finish cleaning up the kitchen I throw Staub Cocette in the oven, shut it off, and forget it. The oven keeps the cocotte hot and it can continue to cook while you run your errands. I know All-Clad makes a slow cooker with an insert but it is clunky, and wait for the second part of my tip, you can’t do that with the All-Clad . When you get home you can pull Miss Staub Cocette out of the oven, throw her on the stovetop, and have her heat up real hot, while you decompress from work or the mall. Another thing I do is take off the lid at this final part to let some evaporate and thicken the sauce. Yum!
